Mary E. Rogers, PsyD, Licensed Psychologist

I CONDUCT ALL THERAPY APPOINTMENTS REMOTELY (TELEPSYCHOLOGY), VIA ONLY HIPAA COMPLIANT PLATFORMS.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I ONLY CONDUCT FIRST TIME APPOINTMENTS WHEN VIDEO CONFERENCING IS POSSIBLE.

I am a Clinical Psychologist, but came to psychology by a circuitous route. I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts, a Masters Degree in Art Therapy, and then went on to earn my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Wright State University School of Professional Psychology in Dayton, Ohio. I have trained specifically in Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing – level II (EMDR), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and the Developmental Model of couples therapy. I learned to practice mindfulness through my DBT training, and I teach mindfulness skills (awareness and acceptance) to my clients and encourage them to begin their own daily practice.

I am a transplanted Coloradan (35 years and counting), having spent much of my life in the mid-west and Texas. In my personal time I spend time with family, my dog, my parrot, and engaging in any kind of artistic/creative pursuit I can get my hands on.

My approach combines mindfulness and cognitive-behavioral therapy, meaning that therapy is focused on 1) building inner awareness, recognition of and tolerance for emotion 2) recognizing how your thoughts and actions affect how you feel 3) how to make changes that will help you reach your individual goals. I will help you identify ineffective thoughts, beliefs and behavior patterns and develop more effective coping strategies that will help you move toward your goals. The length of time in therapy varies, but many issues can be resolved in weeks, rather than months. We will review progress on a regular basis and collaboratively adjust your treatment plan as necessary. I often assign homework, as continuing your work outside of therapy sessions will help you reach and maintain your individual goals more quickly.
